18 Times Celebrities Recycled Their Red Carpet Looks

Red carpet looks vary tremendously, and sometimes you just don’t know what you’re going to get from a celebrity. But other times, their looks can be predictable, even to the point of 100% replication. That’s right — there are some celebs who have totally repeated their past style on the red carpet, and have actually nailed it. Many of these celebs have embraced the concept of sustainability in fashion, by rewearing their ensembles, and thus cutting down their individual carbon footprint. Here are 22 times celebrities recycled their red carpet looks.

Gwyneth Paltrow

When she attended the VMAs in 1996, Gwenyth Paltrow debuted a red velvet suit, by Tom Ford for Gucci. And in 2021, she wore an identical suit for Gucci’s 100th-anniversary runway show.

Elizabeth Banks

In 2004, Elizabeth Banks wore a cute strappy gown to the Vanity Fair Oscars Party, and then again to the 2020 Academy Awards.

Joaquin Phoenix

During the entire 2020 awards season, Joaquin Phoenix made big waves for sustainability in fashion by wearing the exact same tuxedo to every awards show he attended. This included him rewearing the suit to accept his Academy Award for Best Actor in “Joker.” He is a known vegan and environmentalist.

Cate Blanchett

Cate Blanchett has been recycling looks successfully for a while now. She wore a beautiful black lace gown by Armani in 2014 for the Golden Globes. She wore it again at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival.

In 2014, Blanchett wore an Armani dress while attending a Giorgio Armani dinner party, and then wore the same dress to the 2019 Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards.

In 2015, she wore a daring Aouadi Paris dress that had sheer sleeves that gave the appearance of tattooed arms. She wore it again at the American Film Institute’s 46th Life Achievement Award Gala.

Blanchett debuted a beautiful Esteban Cortazar gown in 2015, and then again in 2020 at the Venice Film Festival.

Kate Middleton wore an Alexander McQueen gown to the 2017 BAFTAs, and then again in 2019.
