Evaluate Your Skin Care Products

Cleanse Your Face
There’s a lot that you can do to properly cleanse your face, but the most important thing to avoid here are cleansers that are based on soap or scrubbing agents. And remember to properly use your cleansers as well, so don’t use water that’s too hot, and don’t rub your skin but pat it dry.

Contrary to what many people believe, moisturizing your skin won’t make it more oily. Often times the opposite is true, where people that naturally produce a lot of skin oil will have even more oily skin if they don’t properly keep their skin hydrated. And remember – keep it water-based.

Using a clay mask on a weekly basis can do wonders for your skin, but just be careful that you don’t use it on days that you’re using other products. Combining it with things like exfoliating can be ridiculously rough on your skin and can lead to increased skin irritation.
Wear Sunscreen
This should go without saying, since we all know the damage the sun can do to your skin. Wear sunscreen whenever you feel like you have to, and don’t forget to reapply sunscreen every hour or so. Just starting the day with a thin layer isn’t going to help you. Also, adjust your SPF to match how resistant your skin is to the sun, but err on the side of caution.
Remove Makeup Before Going to Bed
Look, don’t get me wrong, I’m lazy too. Keeping your makeup on overnight is a surefire way to make your pores clog up, however. You’ll be thankful that you spent those 10 minutes of work to give your skin a good night’s rest.
Stay Hydrated
It’s not just about the outside of your body, you need to stay hydrated on the inside, too. Drink plenty of water and your body will have a lot more fuel (you can take that literally) to move toxins out through the pores. About eight glasses of water a day seems to be the sweet spot that many people are aiming for.
